About the Grantee
Constructive Partnerships Unlimited (CP Unlimited) empowers people with complex needs or housing insecurity to achieve fulfilling, dignified, safe, and healthy lives by providing a wide range of direct services and supports that address the needs of each person receiving services. CP Unlimited brings over 46 years of experience supporting programs that empower people with developmental disabilities. They currently provide vocational training for people with DD throughout New York City and have placed over 200 individuals in permanent employment.
Project Summary
The Together We Work project will empower people with DD to use their lived experience to provide support, mentorship, and connection to others receiving services, while also building meaningful career paths. By participating in the program, Peer Specialists will gain valuable training, support, and opportunities to contribute to their communities in new and impactful ways.
This pilot program will serve as a vital step in evaluating the feasibility, impact, and scalability of employing Peer Specialists within group homes across NYS. The pilot will also collect and evaluate data to inform future implementation and contribute to the development of best practices in the field. The project will engage a diverse group of stakeholders, including Cerebral Palsy Associations of New York State (CP State) affiliates and members of the InterAgency Council of Developmental Disabilities Agencies (IAC), fostering a broad base of insights and expertise. The outcomes of the pilot will be shared widely, with the goal of shaping policy and practice to advance employment opportunities for people with disabilities across New York State.
