About the Grantee
The New York Alliance for Inclusion & Innovation (NY Alliance) was formed from a merger between the New York State Association of Community and Residential Agencies (NYSACRA) and the New York State Rehabilitation Association (NYSRA). The NY Alliance is a statewide association that represents over 150 not-for-profit agencies serving people with disabilities.
Project Summary
This project is building a centralized, easy to use website to help people with developmental disabilities, families, and providers find and understand community-based housing options. The NY Alliance will identify statewide and regionally based resources on housing options and supports available, which will be hosted on the newly developed website. The NY Alliance will also identify gaps in information and develop new materials to be hosted on the website.
Along with the identification and development of resources, the NY Alliance will also be responsible for providing public education on housing options to families and caregivers of people with developmental disabilities.
Many people want to live more independently but don't know what housing options exist outside of certified settings. This project makes those options easier to find, understand, and access.
This project aims to:
- Establish an advisory committee to guide the development of the website and identify needed resources.
- Create a searchable online housing resource center.
- Create resources to help people with developmental disabilities and their families make informed decisions.
- Educate people with developmental disabilities and their families on using the website and understanding the resources.
In 2025, the CDD Council Membership voted to extend this project for an additional 2 years.
New York Housing Resource Center
The New York Alliance for Inclusion and Innovation unveiled the New York Housing Resource Center (NYHRC) website in January of 2025. This website focuses on non-certified housing options for people with developmental disabilities (DD). The goal is to educate people with DD, their family members, and caregivers about available housing information and the range of non-certified housing choices.The site is user-friendly, with easy navigation options and ADA-compliant accessibility features designed for people with and without disabilities. Over 300 housing-related resources covering 45 different topic areas are available on the new site in various formats, including podcasts, written materials, and videos.
